Santos “Little Thunder” Lopez is a true contender — not a pretender. Born with the heart of a fighter, he carried his passion and discipline from the streets to the ring, proving that hard work and determination can turn any struggle into strength.

In 1996, Santos fought for the United States Boxing Association (USBA) Championship Title on national television on USA Tuesday Night Fights at the legendary Blue Horizon Arena in Philadelphia  That night, the fight was stopped in the 7th round due to a cut under his left eye, but Santos’s performance earned him national respect and recognition as a contender to watch.

One of his greatest victories came on November 18, 1995, when Santos shocked the boxing world by knocking out former world champion Eddie Hopson (27–1). With only 39 seconds left in the 10th round, Santos delivered a TKO that proved his grit, skill, and relentless fighting spirit.

For his accomplishments and contribution to the sport, Santos was proudly inducted into the New Jersey Boxing Hall of Fame on November 14, 2019 — a testament to his legacy inside and outside the ring.

Today, Santos uses his story to inspire the next generation. As a motivational speaker, he shares lessons learned from the ring — discipline, sacrifice, and the will to rise above life’s toughest challenges. His mission is to guide young people away from drugs, violence, and wasted potential, showing them that everyone can become a contender in life.
